Each and every year millions of people – two million to be exact this year – descend upon the streets of New York City to watch the ING Marathon. Over 45,000 runners participated this year – including elite athletes that clock in under two hours, celebrities running for charities and resilient NY’ers that are doing their part. Even disabled runners cross the finish line, accomplishing a feat that is truly inspiring.
The Stylesight Team was on hand throughout the race and we were lucky enough to be granted post finish line access to the athletes, which was a real treat!
We’ve been following two celebrity athletes leading up to the race day – professional snowboarder and partner in headphone brand FRENDS, Keir Dillon, along with Survivor winner, former professional soccer player, activist and all around good guy, Ethan Zohn. Both men were running for the charities of their choice. Zohn for his charity, Grassroot Soccer, and Dillon for Stoked Mentoring.
On the product side of things, we spotted a wide range of interesting gear worn by the athletes. Above all there were a vast amount of technical helpers including compression socks and armbands, waist packs, kinesiology tape and a plethora of goos and energy gels.
We had a blast and are already looking forward to next year!
