If you’re looking for a new bag to obsess over this season, may we focus your attention on the S/S17 catwalk? This London fashion week has offered up some real gems when it comes to bags, the perfect accessories that will make any outfit pop. So whether you are looking for something to carry your laptop in, or grab as you head to the dancefloor, these bags will hit the mark.
Taking us away to our favourite island vacation destination, Charlotte Olympia went for a more playful route by using fruit as inspiration for all of her purses in the S/S17 collection, including banana wallets, watermelon purses and even going a step further with a full-on fruit basket (fruit not included with purchase).
While elsewhere on the catwalk it was all about the details; we’re seeing less of the big bucket bags, swapping them out for smaller, more compact bags, with tough hardware. Multi-coloured zippers add a dash of colour, as well as a focus on bright, bold stitching, giving the otherwise plain bags some unique qualities.
Christopher Kane, who is celebrating 10 years in the business this year, opted for a marble effect with his bags. Over at the Roksanda Ilincic show, the collection was art meets fashion, and everything from the catwalk set (created by Gary Card) to the bags, reflected the theme.
Take a look at some of the bags you’ll need to accompany your S/S17 wardrobe.
