Though they are based in Sydney, Australian menswear label Vanishing Elephant chose Melbourne for its first brick and mortar location.

Felix Chan, Huw Bennett and Arran Russell founded the label in 2008 and have quickly grown it into one of Australia’s most coveted brands.  Located in the QV Melbourne among fellow Aussie brands Zimmermann and Aesop, the boutique expertly mimics the label’s aesthetic: distinctly modern with a nostalgic undertone.  Sleek, minimal displays rest atop floors lined with salvaged railroad wood, with bursts of color coming from contemporary pendant lighting, an orange mid-century modern chair and jewel-toned ethnic print rugs.  While Vanishing Elephant’s threads constitute most of the stock, the store also carries select pieces from Makr Carry Goods, Edwin denim and Vans footwear. – Christina Mannatt
