Thvm Presents: ARTIST SERIES
By Samuel Trotman

Artists from various fields of discipline worked with THVM to develop washes that were outside denim industry standards and treatments.

THVM has partnered with ORTA to present a traveling exhibition of customized denim entitled, ARTIST SERIES.

THVM (previously know as Them Atelier) are widely recognized for their directional wash programs, so we weren’t surprised to hear about their latest customisation project with Turkish mill, Orta Anadolu. The L.A.-based denim brand curated a group of artists from various disciplines, each enlisted to develop washes that are, aesthetically, outside the denim industry standards. The culmination of this project was the artists’ collaborative efforts with Jean Genie Studios Inc., to recreate the works of art into functional, wearable, pieces.

Each of these contributing artists, including Ishi Glinsky, Bozly, Krissy Morrison and Chris Yniguez, produced a special, handmade wash in Thvm’s Los Angeles atelier from natural ingredients and materials. The result was an inspiring and innovative approach to denim finishing. The final pieces were showcased at L.A. gallery Space 15 Twenty last month, with Chris Y’s piece featuring as a limited edition offering for THVM’s F/W 12 collection.
