The Vintage Showroom Studio Visit

The Vintage Showroom’s studio in West London is an ephemeral collection of vintage clothing and accessories.

Last week we were kindly invited by the guys at The Vintage Showroom in London to visit their private studio, in particular their denim room, and to take a look at the ephemeral collection of vintage clothing and accessories.

Available to view by appointment only, The Vintage Showroom is a brilliant resource for reference and inspiration for designers and collectors alike. With a classic interior and vintage furniture, the studio gives a nod to legacy and tradition and offers a product mix that includes original American denim brands like Headlight, Big Yank, Maverick, (An awesome retro Wrangler sub-brand) Powerhouse, Levi’s and Lee, as well as original French military and naval uniforms.

As a project fully entrenched in recapturing clothing of the past, the space is very much in tune with the work of Douglas Gunn, part owner of the business. Numerous vintage relics can be seen from union overalls to photographs and banners in a time capsule-like aura. The original woodwork and vintage feel of the fixtures and fittings help to highlight the textures and colors of yesteryear’s clothing in a way that really takes you back.

Their equally impressive retail space in Covent Garden is just as heavy on denim, with an acute selection of union era assortments and military goods as well as some amazing 1950s greaser styles. Situated in Earlham Street, Seven Dials, the area and shop are both rich in history have made the ideal location for their first storefront. Formerly FW Collins & Sons Ironmongers, a much loved London institution, the store still houses some of the original features of the shop, which complement the vintage assortments perfectly.

The showroom is available by appointment only Monday – Saturday. Please contact Douglas Gunn:
