MILAN…After a masterful show for his own line, British designer Matthew Williamson took on the Milan runways with his final collection for Pucci. Although Williamson is an expert with prints and embellishments, his work for Pucci seems toned down and a bit more appropriate and safe for the venerable house. S/S 09 brought a predictable twist on the classics, applying the classic, colorful geometric Pucci print styles to short shapes and as well as long maxi dresses. Interesting details included twisted halter necks, sharp, squared off shoulders on jackets, and a stretchy one shoulder number in a tropical design. Look to Williamson’s work for accessible juniors print inspiration this season.
