Paris Fashion Week Wrap

L to R: Maison Martin Margiela, Haider Ackerman, Dries Van Noten, Balenciaga

Draping the body in new formations expressed femininity at Paris Fashion Week. Playing with these elements made designers question what shapes work for a woman. A high-waisted pant, tailored in a menswear style, cropped the torso and simultaneously created an hourglass shape. One-shouldered dresses examined extremities by slicing off arms on long sleeve shapes. A slit at the leg stopped at the hip, exposing a long leg. Soft layers in knits and fur (also seen in other cities) reflected a nomadic feel, while Paris showcased carefully constructed and colorful pieces worn together in a mandatory “uniform.” Fluidity came from exaggerated shapes in luscious fabrics. Goddess silhouettes exposed portions of the body in an updated way.
