Meadham Kirchhoff

Meadham Kirchhoff S/S 2013

VICTORIAN EXCESS
London: More is always more for Edward Meadham and Benjamin Kirchhoff, whose over-the-top spring looks were embellished within an inch of their lives. Most items were festooned with bows, ruffles, or feathers (and sometimes all three), and many featured dramatic beading. Nipped-in waists, built-out hips, and bustiers suggested a Victorian influence. There were a few pieces that would do well on the street, including slashed denim jackets with princess seams, graphic tees, and printed kicky skirts, but most were too wild even for London’s daring young things. The designers’ unique concepts and fearlessness are inspirational, but a dose of restraint would serve them well. –Joanna Manganaro
