Lingerie and swimwear came out from hiding for New York’s spring runway shows.
It’s spring runway season again; you know what that means: plenty of lingerie and swimwear on the catwalk. And more specifically, no pants! It wasn’t the pants-less pop stars of current-day, however, that designers were channeling this season, but a more sophisticated, retro-flavored starlet. Edie Sedgwick appeared in bikini bottoms paired with boxy tees over at Marc Jacobs, while demure tops at Peter Som and Rachel Comey had an air of Brigitte Bardot and Marilyn Monroe. At VPL, Victoria Bartlett reinterpreted her sculptural knits in a more resort-friendly fashion with cocoon-shaped sweaters that fell off the shoulders and framed hip-slung briefs in just the right way.
Here are a few more of our favorite lingerie/swim looks from New York Fashion Week. As usual, we will be compiling all these images and picking out the biggest trends of the season once the shows end. Stay tuned!
