Tellason Denim is one of the best of a breed of Made In America brands to emerge over the last five years. We’ve blogged about the company, their roots and their ethics a couple of times already but this recent video by online retailer Huckberry featured on Hypebeast caught our eye. In it, Pete Searson, one half of the brand, talks specifically about the denim they use and why.

Visiting Searson in their shared hometown of San Francisco, birthplace of all this denim, the film explores Tellason’s choice of fabric (Cone Denim White Oak blue line raw selvedge) that’s cut and sewn in San Francisco. Searson waxes lyrical about what it means to use a high quality cloth, the benefits of good raw denim broken in by the wearer and his fascination with the individual wear patterns and color loss that make every jean unique and shaped to its owner. If you’re not into raw denim , this video will give you the bug!
