MILITARY MAGNETISM
New York: Over the seasons, many designers have nearly turned the idea of a man’s uniform into a bit of a cliche, attempting to twist military or work wear tradition into something relevant for the modern man. For F/W 12, Marc by Marc Jacobs went above the fray by putting a youthful spin on the rugged classics that are often unsuccessfully recycled each and every season. While other collections focused on the dark shadow the strict silhouettes and somber colors cast, Marc Jacobs went against the grain with a gold lamé trench, metallic-marled CPO sweaters and eye-popping officer’s visor hats.  —Michael Fisher
