Talk to Me: Design and the Communication between People and Objects, is a new exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, which seeks to explore the relationship between objects and humans, and how we can use these objects to improve communication with one another.
The exhibition, comprising over 200 works from artists worldwide, can be viewed online via the MoMA website, on an informative hub created specifically for the exhibition.
As technology becomes more abundant in our lives it is all too easy to feel detached from human interaction and the real-world, and we are increasingly noticing designers seeking new ways to humanize objects that have become such a mainstay in our everyday lives; and in turn improve communication with one another.
Sometimes conceptual, but often practical, the collection highlights this shift in contemporary design; to not solely follow rules of form and function, and the need for objects to communicate with their audience on a more emotional or intellectual level, which is now a key focus.
We look forward to more exhibitions and future innovative products that highlight this matter. – Samantha Fox
