WORK COOL, PLAY COOL
Paris:
Alber Elbaz showed a largely two-tone black and white collection, full of solid, sharp suiting and unassuming classic items like black Mackintosh raincoats or cropped trench coats. He sprinkled just enough playfulness throughout, largely in the form of cartoon florals sets in sky blue or a more demure grey, as well as plenty of shorts suits and the currently ubiquitous sport sandals. Touches of rockabilly added a bit of menace in the form of high-waisted pleated trousers, moto jacket shirts, and python prints, while active influenced backpacks and techno coats kept things contemporary.  —Andrew Luecke
