AFRICAN ABSTRACTION
Milan: Safari themes have already popped up in Milan a few times in the past two days, and Krizia’s Creative Director Mariuccia Mandelli also had an African adventure in mind. Abstract and sophisticated, the collection took a minimalist approach to soft field jackets in cream and white, delicate linen coat dresses and cinched suede suiting. Although this safari excursion was definitely designed for observation only, a few creatures did wander past, including a cute intarsia knit tiger graphic and a beautifully pebbled faux-crocodile skin. Mandelli took a stab at introducing dresses to the jungle, but his relaxed self-tie outerwear remained the brand’s true must-have for S/S 13.—Nina Stotler
