Events collective Platterform has created a rooftop market in South London that challenges and experiments with traditional notions of a food market by focusing on dining, learning and performance.
Officially opened yesterday, Skymarket comprises a kitchen, a bar, a deli, a performance space and a gallery for creating and exhibiting arts and crafts. In addition, Platterform is keen to celebrate and showcase the community of the SE1 area, making sure that all fresh produce is homemade or sourced from local growers, such as the brilliant St. Mungo’s of Melior Street charity. Artists, musicians and craftsmen living in the area will also be given prime spots in and around the space to sell their wares or perform.
“Markets are all about variety – different smells, sounds, sights and flavors, different cultures, customs and ultimately different people. Using this as our impetus we aim to continuously introduce new dishes and invent new cocktails for our menu, make our own or source new interesting products for our bar and deli as well as host a number of cultural events including live music, theatre and dance,” explains Platterform.
