Blending culture and art with food is new London-based publication, The Gourmand.
“A Gourmand is a person who takes pleasure and interest in food of all kinds and The Gourmand is a new food and culture journal that binds inspirational words, images and ideas with the humble and universal subject of food.”
Set up by creative duo David Lane and Marina Tweed, The Gourmand came about after dinner and conversation with friends at home – friends who have also contributed to the inaugural issue.
The publication will be released in print, annually, providing a fresh angle on the international food scene through slick graphic design and engaging editorial content. Art design comes courtesy of Lane, who founded design studio Inventory in 2008. Issue 00 will include a feature on The 2 Bears at Brixton Market, and a beautiful, photography story by Jamie Brown and Luke Kirwan, who depicted the art movements of the 20th century through food.
