Recently unveiled at the MKG in Hamburg is The Chanel Legend, a retrospective dedicated to one of the most renowned couturiers of the 20th century, Gabrielle (Coco) Chanel. The exhibition explores the impact of the timeless designer and the evolution of the maison over the years and through its inception of Karl Lagerfeld. Divided into a series of three chapters, showcased here are original garments, jewelry pieces, historical photographs and fashion magazines. The first segment of the series focuses on the works of Coco Chanel from the ‘20s through to the ‘70s, while the second sheds light on Chanel classics like the tweed suit and the LBD. The third chapter is devoted to Karl Lagerfeld and his seamless transition into the world of Chanel, modernizing the label without comprising its tradition. On view through May 18th, explore the legacy of Coco Chanel and her fashion empire. –Sarah Ryan Hecht
