Milan…Gucci

Isn’t it ironic that the criticism leveled at Frida Giannini season after season is because her clothing is TOO wearable? While it is true that if there was a prize for most-knocked-off it would go to her collection but isn’t that a compliment of sorts? Gucci for S/S 09 entitled “Gucci Exotica,”incorporated all of the usual elements we have come to expect from Giannini, variations on the masculine-edged pant suit and fedora combination plus leather jackets. Last season’s rich bohemian looks were eschewed in favor of more tailored safari looks complete with gold hardware and a series of caftans, both short and long in the diaphanous fabrics that are fast becoming this season’s signature. All this and of course a new “it” bag, the “New Jackie” Like it or not, this is a collection positioned to sell.
