GENTLEMAN OF ACTION
Milan: Giorgio Armani delivered a namesake collection that at first appeared scattershot, with conservative grey business suits marching next to cranberry pony hair overcoats. However, as more models appeared, sporting knit suits or trousers and fur bombers, it became clear that the designer was presenting two sides of the same adventurous gentleman – a man at home doing boardroom battle or seeking arctic adventure. A dark, antique aesthetic, courtesy of romantic velvet blazers and dashing black military coats, hinted that this collection sought perhaps to resurrect this versatile and virile man for a new age. —Andrew Luecke
