DIGITAL TRAVELER
Milan: Against a backdrop of swirling digital lights, Veronica Etro sent out futuristic interpretations of her label’s signature looks for fall. The famous paisley prints were now interrupted with curving colored lines or morphed into kaleidoscopic mirror images. Other motifs were obscured by black lines and squares, giving them a pixilated effect. In keeping with the digital-age theme, the clothing was clean and precise. Necklines often featured geometrically-shaped notches or raised sides, and rectangular cutouts appeared at the ribcage on several evening dresses. The liberal use of zip closures, in addition to a few tough biker jackets, added a bad-girl allure. Etro has always cultivated a luxe traveler aesthetic, though typically of a more bohemian persuasion, but this season’s new take was a welcome update to the formula and made for some exciting, desirable clothing. –Joanna Manganaro
