FOAM gallery in Amsterdam has recently launched an online resource for young enthusiasts wanting to learn and improve upon their photographic skills.
Foam for You includes a digestible teacher’s guide and educational tools that explain the basic techniques of light, framing and composition. Three short films also profile the celebrated artists Michael Wolf, Jessica Backhaus and Melanie Bonajo, giving deeper insight into their personal inspirations and individual “working practice.” Each film takes its title from, and relates to, a theme from a previous issue of Foam Magazine: Construct, Wonder and Peeping.
Since the gallery’s opening in 2002, FOAM has endeavored to showcase the work of younger up-and-coming photographers alongside iconic masters of the medium. Last year, the gallery celebrated its 10th anniversary with What’s Next? – A project that invited four experts from the fields of art, culture and technology to question the future of the photography exhibition.
