We’re currently out in Tokyo hunting for new denim trends, brands, and innovations. Wandering down the infamous Cat Street the other day, we noticed that a new Ralph Lauren Denim & Supply store has opened.
We checked out the new store and were really impressed with two floors of beautifully curated and merchandized denim and casualwear. The store opened less than one month ago on September 29th, with a special press opening event on September 27th. Famous Japanese pop star and personality Crystal Kay helped Ralph Lauren celebrate the store opening, performing some of her most recent hits for the crowd. Also in attendance were other celebrities and models from Tokyo, including Miki Yoshimoto and Nanaka Ozawa, winners of Japan’s beauty contest in 2012.
The brand also launched some limited edition in-store-only products, including an all-over studded denim jacket and a range of stars and stripes destroyed and patched denim jeans and jackets.
This store is the second Denim & Supply standalone to open its doors worldwide (the other store, which we blogged about recently, is in Amsterdam) and the product, with its use of American references and cool, boho-Navajo styling, definitely speaks to the Japanese consumer. Heavily embroidered jeans and jackets, boro patch- and repair-work, and intricate hardwear adornments were key trends within their F/W 12 stock.
