THE SIMPLE THINGS
New York: Demonstrating his knack for designing simple clothing that isn’t boring, Carlos Campos offered up a S/S 2013 collection that will keep fashionistos interested, but won’t scare the boy next door away. Campos presented a fine-tuned item assortment in just four choice hues – seafoam, white, canary and cobalt, and incorporated personal touches via subtle prints or details. A micro star motif charmingly decorated tailored silhouettes – blazers, trousers, shorts, button-fronts and a lone bomber, and contrast details were employed with extreme restraint; some were as minor as a single off-hue belt loop. Clean styling – buttoned-up and monochromatic – drove Campos’ silhouette and color messages home. —Whitney Kessler
