A LIGHT VOLUME
Milan: Blumarine’s latest collection began on an innocently light note and ended with a dark sophistication, both sides turning up lovely Junior pieces for Spring. If what came between went off the track with some strangely lurid pastels and unnecessary embellishment, no matter, fans of the brand will be coveting the casual white cotton camisole dresses edged in lace, slouchy openweave knits tops or sheaths sliced with wavy cutouts. Slim tops and full skirts also looked appropriately youthful throughout, and accordion pleating and ruffled layering lent these ensembles volume without adding weight. Designer Anna Molinari did evening in black, but she wasn’t too serious, finding a way to incorporate satin moto jackets, lamé skirts and boudoir chiffon into this trend-driven presentation.—Nina Stotler
