Beauty Buzz | HBO & HSN Present the Forsaken Collection, Inspired by True Blood

HBO teames up with HSN to launch Forsaken, an exclusive luxury fragrance and beauty collection inspired by the award-winning hit series True Blood.

If you’re a fan of HBO’s Emmy and Golden Globe nominated hit show True Blood, then, like us, you probably cannot get enough of this season’s major plot twists that follow our favorite mystical residents of Bon Temps, Louisiana. And while Sunday’s episode made us laugh, anticipate in wonder, and once again realize our eternal love for Eric Northman, True Blood was making its own appearance at a launch party last Thursday for a vampy new beauty line that you’re not going to be able to resist sinking your fangs into.

HBO teamed up with Forsaken LLC, a specialty licensing partnership created by Multi Media Exposure and Virtue Development, to craft Forsaken. The beauty collection will include a perfume line with an exclusive Eau de Parfum created by fragrance house Givaudan, along with a corresponding body cream and shimmering body veil powder. The scent is topped with light pulpy fruits paired with crisp pear notes, evened with mid notes of night blooming jasmine, and lined with a dark muskiness of amber and patchouli. Together, the light and dark notes of the fragrance mimic the dark and seductive context of the series. We could definitely imagine a leather and lust Jessica Hamby or Pam De Beaufort donned in the sultry scent.

A line of home products by high-end home fragrance company D.L. & Co. will also smell of Forsaken. As for the packaging, the home collection’s burning-with-passion candle is accessorized with a fang lid, and the solo diffuser mirrors the Eau de Parfum’s bottle with a wicked vine-like design. The rest of the products are dressed in red and black, echoing the dark Victorian-style commonly associated with vintage vampire culture.

Famed manicurist Deborah Lippmann created a luxury beauty collection featuring numerous polishes. Lippmann developed her first lipstick, “Bite Me,” along with the “Let It Bleed” nail lacquer that carries the Forsaken fragrance. Two additional collection sets were also produced, including “Sookie Sookie,” an appropriately titled nude polish, and “Human Nature,” and “Fairydust,” an airy white-based hue. The second set, “Bad Things,” inspired by that oh-so-catchy theme song, includes three mini polishes: a magenta “Strange Love,” peachy-pink “New Flesh” and deep red “Bad Blood.”

The Forsaken Collection will be released on August 9 exclusively to HSN, and HSN mobile, perfect for the Sookie Stackhouse hopefuls that fully intend on mimicking her fairy essence with the shimmering body veil all while on the comfort of their own couch. In September, the collection will be available at the HBO Shop following with a worldwide distribution at specialty retailers in late 2012. Judging by True Blood’s suggestive advertising campaigns, we can only guess—and crave what’s in store for this one. But until then, we’ll leave you with pleasant memories of Alcide from last week’s episode and more importantly, the Forsaken eye candy that is vein pulsing-ly sweet.  – Madeline Farina
