Through the end of April and May, Beastie Boys vocalist Mike D is teaming up with digital magazine The Avant/Garde Diaries to host a free, multidisciplinary festival in downtown Los Angeles, Transmission LA: AV Club.
The 17-day fair, will be held at MOCA’s Geffen Contemporary, and include daytime and evening exhibitions, installations, music sets and performances, as well as a pop up restaurant, to emphasize the powerful synergy between audio and visual art. The maze-like space hopes to create an atmosphere where visitors can really engage with the work on display, as well as each other, re-thinking the archetypal gallery setting of white walls in a box room.
Following on from last years festival in Berlin with Belgian curator and fashion designer Raf Simons, visionary creatives from the disciplines of music, contemporary art, film food and coffee will include food truck aficionado Roy Choi, Benjamin Jones, director Mike Mills, Tom Sachs, Public Fiction and New York-based arts organization, Still House Group.
