Art & Design: Fantastic Factology

The Fantasticology project is implementing a series of artistic, landscape interventions for the Olympic Park, as part of London Olympics this summer.

Fantasticology is the brainchild of London-based architects and artists The Klassnik Corporation, Riitta Ikonen and We Made That, who are implementing a series of landscape interventions for the Olympic Park, as part of London 2012 this summer.

For the project Fantastic Factology, the group enlisted the help of local residents to submit ‘fantastic facts’ via postal and digital submissions, and various workshop events.  These selected nuggets of information have now been inscribed into various plaques, designed by graphic collective Europa, which will feature on the various benches dotted around the Stratford site.  The facts range from topics on astrology to zoology, with ‘statements to excite, bewilder, inform and inspire’, according to the website.

We have been following the many cultural and creative happenings in and around East London in the run up to the games for the past few months.  Keep watching the site for our forthcoming report, an update to our Olympics 2012: Creative Generation report from last summer. – Samantha Fox
