It’s that time a year again folks….snowboard season is JUST around the corner which means we’re in primetime video premiere-mode. On Thursday night, September 13th, Burton Snowboards kicked things off with multiple screenings of its new flick 13 on both sides of the coast in New York City and Newport Beach. (Coincidence of the date selected? We think not!) Additionally on the same day, the brand held its grand re-opening of its SoHo store location on Spring Street in NYC. To say the least…the Active Team was quite busy making sure to capture all of the goodness going down.
Burton team riders Mikey Rencz, Mark Sollors, Ethan Deiss and the great Terje Haakonsen stopped through both the store opening along with the party later on that night in the city. Suffice to say, their sight lit up many snowboard fans’ faces. (I mean, come on…it’s Terje!!!)
The premiere and party was held at the historic Angel Orensanz Foundation on the Lower East Side. The space is magical with authentic details of its origins and architecture. And not to mention the lighting….everyone was drenching in a palette of crimson red.
The best part of a night like this is catching up with old snowboard buddies and most importantly, checking out the new video at hand. We would have to say our favorite parts included Ethan Deiss and Zak Hale’s incredible rail footage along with Terje and John Jackson’s breathtaking descents in picturesque conditions – requiring esteemed bravado in high avalanche zones looming around them.
