Every spring, Burton Snowboards extends an invite to the Active Team for a viewing of its new gear for next winter season. May 2012 was no different and we were stoked to check out 12/13 outerwear, apparel and hardgoods at MILK Studios in New York City. Not to mention an additional invite to the annual Après in May Burton Bash held atop MILK’s penthouse. (More to come on that in a sec!)
Back in January, we already had an intense glimpse of the 12/13 collection during SIA, however it’s always interesting to see things a second time around. Plus, focus on select pieces we think will have some trending traction. Case in point with the Cora Pullover Jacket in leopard print! Our eyes certainly zeroed-in on this hot item that’s pushing the envelope of fashion and function on the mountain.

Next up is the Green Mountain Project (GMP) in collaboration with Mountain Dew. As stated from Burton…“The process transforms recycled plastic bottles into pellets that are spun into yarns woven into the fabrics that makes our GMP outerwear collection.” The simple and cool pieces include the GMP Knox Jacket and GMP Clifton Pant that look great while lessening ones’ carbon footprint.

Now….onto the party!
Let’s just say summer was officially kicked off in New York City last Thursday night! The weather couldn’t of been more perfect with high temperatures as everyone watched the sun dip down across the Hudson River into the New Jersey horizon.
The soirée was in full effect bringing out everyone from Global PR Director Anne-Marie Dacyshyn, Burton NY/New Jersey Sales Representative Chris Bernard, along with New England Sales Rep Matt Jagermann, pros Mark McMorris, Pat Moore and Kimmy Falsini to OG NYC snowboard homies JP Guilbert, Bruno Musso, Pooky, Brad Clarke, Tim Brodhagen and Gio Estevez from Supreme.

Everyone had a blast and enjoyed sipping on – always Burton appropriate – spiked Arnold Palmer shaved ices while Burton Girls contributor, DJ Jasmine Solano played tunes throughout the night that went well past the closing hour of 9pm!
Thanks always to Burton for inviting us out! Even though summer is here, winter is just around the corner…and we’ll certainly be ready! -Jessica Kaplan
