10 iconic street shots
The global team at WGSN has been scouring the world for the last 10 years, snapping hipsters from London to Tokyo and numerous places in between. Here is a selection of street shots that we think sum up the last decade.

London, 2008
London fashion always feels as if it's in a league of its very own. We love the scene and all the artists and musicians that have consistently inspired us over the years. Carrie Mundane from Cassette Playa and MIA are just two of the faces we've photographed recently.

Iceland Airwaves 2007: apparelIceland Airwaves festival, Reykjavik, 2007
Reykjavik is undoubtedly a key destination for the youth team, quite simply for its unique creative community. We are always eager to visit the Iceland Airwaves festival each October, not only to check out the music but also the street fashion. Pictured here is Reykjavik Looks street style blogger Elisabet, wearing a ruffle cape designed by Kali, a designer/musician who fronts Icelandic electro-crunk band Steed Lord.

US hip hop street styleMagic trade show, Las Vegas, USA 2007
Streetwear looks have evolved over the last few years and we're always keen to check out the latest style at the Magic show in Las Vegas. We love the skurban looks that have come through in the last few years. As hip hop style crosses with skate trends we're seeing a more pared-down look, with slimmer gold chains, ear tunnel piercings and geek chic glasses.

Sónar 2006: apparel & denimSonar festival, 2006
WGSN first attended the Sónar music festival in Barcelona in 1999 and has been a fan of the event ever since. Attracting a mix of music and fashion types alike, today the festival is still as directional as ever. We love the effortless style of this girl, who's 60s styling was an especially strong look in 2006, but the look is still timeless with her swing-skirted vintage dress and long hair.

Stockholm: apparel trendsStockholm, Sweden 2006
Stockholm continues to be an inspiring street style destination and a source of trends that filter into the rest of Europe and beyond. We love the individuality and classic 80s "Brat Pack" styling of this guy, complete with wide lapels, biker jacket and Wayfarers.

Tokyo / Osaka street styleOsaka, Japan 2005
Street style in Japan is always fun and like Tokyo, Osaka is a hotbed of style inspiration. With the America-mura district a showcase for innovative, quirky and exciting styles, experimental ways of mixing graphics, print, style references and fabrics, the street shots always look striking.

Ibiza club 2003dc10, Ibiza, 2003
Ibiza has been a constant source of inspiration since we first started reporting from the White Isle in 1998. The free-spirited and fun-loving atmosphere at clubs such as Dc10 and Space never fails to get us in the mood for summer.

Reading Festival, UKReading Festival, UK 2003
Festival fashion in the UK is always an eclectic affair and we love the high/low glamour of this 80s cocktail dress worn with trainers. First highlighted as a key item in 2003, we spotted the look at the Reading Festival. We love the red and black styling of this couple who epitomize all that's great about the UK indie rock aesthetic.

Vans Warped TourVans Warped Tour, Los Angeles, USA 2000
Predominately a punk-infused event since its inception in 1994, the Vans Warped Tour has slowly diversified over the years to include alternative rock and hip hop acts. Despite the shift, the fashion style still gravitates towards punk.

Fuji Rock Festival Tropicalia styling and printsFuji Rock Festival, Japan 1999
The Fuji Rock Festival in Japan really summed up a "summer of love" aesthetic for us in 1999. A relaxed hippy vibe is always prevalent at the festival, which is reflected in the style of the attendees. Because practicality has a bearing with mountain conditions and unpredictable weather, the majority of festival-goers opt for warm and dry layers.
