Welcome to WGSN's 10th birthday site

At the heart of WGSN's mission is a commitment to help our customers identify the trends that will help them build their businesses. To mark our 10th birthday we asked our experts across each market sector to look through the WGSN archives and identify the defining trends of the decade. As always our objective was to think outside of the box, give you inspiration and back it up with analysis.

Over the next 10 days we will publish a hit list of the trends that have driven profitability in the fashion and style industries over the past 10 years. They have been split into five types: Movers & Shakers, WGSN Insider, Trend Watch, Future and Essentials.

A quick scan across the lists pulled out some industry-wide trends. For instance, whether you are a kidswear manufacturer, a retailer or a supplier, you'll be worried about issues of sustainability right now. Equally, vintage has become a key inspiration across every product development category and is no longer solely the remit of the fast-fashion and youth categories.

Finally, because it is in our DNA to look forward, we've also forecasted the next retail brands to watch, innovations in materials and small ideas that will have a big impact. Food for thought we hope, whatever role you play in our industry.

From the entire WGSN team, Happy Birthday.
